Poll Shows More & More Pet Owners Are Discussing CBD With Their Veterinarian!

Not only are more pet owners discussing CBD with their vets, but over 8 out of 10 times the vet is giving CBD an “enthusiastic response!”

That’s according to results of a new pet owner survey conducted by Brightfield Group.

In light of these statistics, it’s no wonder that CBD product sales for dogs are expected to generate $629 million in sales this year.

CBD Offers Many Benefits for Pets!

Petmd.com reports that CBD can be used to treat seizures, nausea, stress, anxiety, arthritis, back pain, symptoms of cancer and gastrointestinal issues, among other health conditions in pets.

One of the biggest advantages CBD offers, pet owners say, is that it can help calm nervous and aggressive dogs.

Here is some additional tips for dealing with dogs that act out and are aggressive.

Dealing With an Aggressive Dog

A dog that shows aggression toward people and other dogs needs to be tamed. The goal is to be preventive, taking action so that the dog will not react this way again.

To do this, you must use training and a clicker. Keep in mind, your dog’s aggression will always be there, your job is to work with your dog to keep that aggression at bay.

One thing you should do is incorporate the use of clicker training sessions into your training.

This will challenge the dog’s mind as well as teach him or her the ability to manage encounters without showing aggression.

If you have a fearful or dominant dog, clicker training will develop a new relationship with your dog. Dogs that are fearful love the confidence that the clicker instills. Dominate dogs are satisfied with the ability to control events in their lives.

Use frequent clicker sessions in both cases, five to fifteen minutes at least twice a day. This will stimulate the dog’s mind and build new behaviors.

But more dog owners are also experiencing success calming aggressive dogs with CBD.

This method is not as time intensive as clicker training and it is safe for the dog.

Here’s How CBD Works:

CBD delivers relief by interacting with the pets’ endocannabinoid system, which is a series of receptors that run throughout its body. By interacting with the receptors, CBD helps modulate pain, anxiety, nausea and more.

There are actually two varieties of CBD – one is taken from the marijuana plant and one comes from hemp.

Hemp-derived CBD is much more popular as it doesn’t make people high and its chemical composition is more CBD dominant.

The marijuana plant is specifically cultivated over time to contain more THC than any other cannabinoids. There are even some strains that contain 30% THC that are available today. THC is the psychoactive substance in marijuana that makes users high. By definition, hemp must contain 0.3% or less of THC.

What Should I Look for When Buying CBD for My Pet?

A couple of key descriptors to look for when buying CBD include:

Why full spectrum? This type of CBD contains all other cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant, which total over 100. In comparison, CBD isolate is simply purified CBD that has been extracted from the cannabis plant. It does not contain any other cannabinoids.

The reason this matters is because of the entourage effect. Because full-spectrum CBD contains all the various cannabinoids it is thought to have a greater therapeutic effect than CBD isolate.

You see, many of the 100+ cannabinoids have been associated with various health benefits in humans. So by taking multiple cannabinoids, users are expected to receive a greater number of benefits.

Organically grown is another important differentiator because the cannabis plant absorbs substances from the soil in the area in which it is grown. Hemp has traditionally been more carefully grown compared to marijuana thus hemp is considered to be a safer source of CBD.

Where Should I Buy CBD for My Pet?

Many suppliers use pesticides when growing their hemp plants. Also, many CBD supplements have been found to contain high levels of heavy metals and potentially dangerous microbes.

To combat these issues, you should look for companies with the highest reputations for quality and that feature CBD that is grown in a location that is noted for promoting the highest quality control for hemp. Right now, these locations include Switzerland and the United States.

Switzerland, in particular, has quickly gained a strong reputation for producing high quality hemp-derived CBD. One company that uses Switzerland-grown CBD in its products is Sarah’s Blessing.
